New Start Business Services provides competent and reliable CFO and accounting services for small to medium sized businesses, and can even help setup the financial systems for new businesses and organizations of all sizes. We are also a Registered Tax Return Preparer office and can prepare all types of personal, business, and non-profit tax returns. Started in 1997 and incorporated in 2007, New Start Business Services also offers accounting and bookkeeping services that can help business owners and managers with all or any portion of your financial needs.

The company is owned and managed by Melvin D Nimer, who graduated from Brigham Young University in 1975 with a BS in Accounting and began working at KSL Inc. in Salt Lake City. Shortly after graduation he was hired by Husky Oil and moved his family to Cody, Wyoming. Two years later he moved to Santa Barbara, CA where Mr. Nimer was the accounting manager for Larsen Bateman Advertising. Over the years Mr. Nimer has been the accounting manager for McNally Mountain States Steel in Lindon, UT and Granite Mill & Fixture in Salt Lake City. He also started one of the first laser toner cartridge businesses in Utah – Recharge Services Inc. and one of the early discount long distance companies – Sorenson Telecommunications Inc. Along with a couple of family members he created KAMM Development – a residential construction company and helped design and build a number of homes in the Draper area. Over the years Mr. Nimer has also been the CFO for restaurants, a private school, travel agencies, medical practices, law offices, non-profit organizations, and various service, manufacturing and construction companies.

Mr. Nimer spent two years working for H&R Block Premium handling complex individual and business tax returns before starting New Start Business Services. Through NSBS he has been the CFO for various businesses throughout the Salt Lake Valley for the past 15 years including Mountain States Trailer & Equipment Sales, Inc, Lasting Comforts, Inc. / Secured Systems, Skinworks School of Advanced Skincare, and Associated Builders & Contractors of Utah. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Utah Pride Center, the Salt Lake Men’s Choir, and the Utah Log Cabin Republicans. He was the Treasurer of the Utah Pride Center and the financial director of the Utah Pride Festival for three years. He is also actively involved in the Republican Party having served in numerous county and state party positions including Treasurer of the Salt Lake County Party and as a member of the State Party audit committee and budget committee, and a member of the State Party Central Committee and Executive Committee.
